Tucked away in the secluded neighbourhood of Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island), lies “Blok Three Sisters”, a unique and innovative project by the talented team at Blok Modular in collaboration with Vokes and Peters.

AFFORDABLE INNOVATION
Three modular units sit on this section of land, with each containing three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a focus of “stealth density” says architect John Ellway, a juror for the 2025 Houses Awards. This design reignites modular living with clever spatial planning, focusing on standardisation and practicality, to ensure lower costs and building to budget.
Blok Three Sisters has gone on to receive widespread awards and recognition, recently being named Houses 2025 Australian Home of the Year, as well as receiving the 2025 Frederick Romberg Award at the National Architecture Awards. This is a prime example of modern prefabricated design that’s reshaping what’s possible with modular construction not only in Queensland, but greater Australia.
BLENDING BEAUTY AND PURPOSE
Heka Hoods is extremely proud to be part of this elegant and award-winning project. Our contribution came through the addition of our signature bracket-less, aluminium awning systems, specifically the HH300 and HH600 Heka Hood depths featuring Mitred Corners, which deliver passive solar shading and enhance cooling across all three units. These prefabricated hoods blend seamlessly into the soft blue and striking white palette, creating a continuous visual flow from front to back.
