Powder coated aluminium window hoods are a fantastic investment- they offer protection, style, and durability.  However, like any outdoor product, they do require a little care to keep them looking great and performing at their best for years to come.

Below are some suggestions to help you maintain your window hoods and enhance the longevity of the product.

 REGULAR CLEANING

Atmospheric pollution, dirt, grime, and airborne salt deposits can build up on your sun hood over time. Cleaning your hoods regularly will help to maintain the finish and quality of the product.

DO:

-       Carefully remove any loose surface deposits with a wet sponge

-       Use a soft, non-abrasive brush with a dilute solution of a mild detergent in warm water to remove dust, salt and other deposits.

-       Ensure you thoroughly rinse the surfaces with clean fresh water after cleaning to remove all residues

 DO NOT:

-       Use turpentine, white spirits, thinner or other aggressive solvents on our product.

-       Rub powder coating excessively

-       Use abrasive pads / sponges

IMMEDIATE ATTENTION TO STAINS

If you notice things like bird droppings or tree sap on your sun hood, clean them off as soon as possible. These things can be acidic and may compromise the finish of the coating if left too long.

INSPECT FOR DAMAGE

Periodically check for chips, scratches or worn areas in the powder coating. Small damages can be carefully touched up with a can of touch-up paint. These can be found at your local Inspirations paint store.

MINIMISE HARSH EXPOSURE

While powder coated aluminium is made to withstand the elements, extreme conditions such as salt spray from the ocean or heavy industrial pollution can accelerate wear. If you’re in a harsh environment, consider cleaning your sun hoods more frequently.
